This project used IT to create a shared online meeting space for employers, institutions and international students from all over the UK. The virtual careers fair gave equal access to international students, institutions and employers from across the UK, and provided a virtual one-stop-shop for international employers looking for UK educated talent to meet their skills needs.

The project objectives were to:

• provide international students with opportunities to meet recruiters from their own and other countries in a virtual environment;
• provide staff advising international students with opportunities to make contact with overseas recruiters;
• develop a model of good practice which might be further developed in the future;
• encourage the sharing of international employer contacts across different regions, sectors and specialisms.

The first fair specialised in Greater China and South East Asia, was held in October 2010 and was managed by the University of Glasgow.

The second fair specialised in the Asia-Pacific regions, was in January/February 2011 and was managed by the University of Exeter.

The last fair specialised in India, was held in February 2011 and was managed by a consortium of West Midlands careers services.

The final reports for all the fairs have been produced.
