Job shops can offer various advertising routes and also advise on any issues related to the employment of international students.
All services will advertise vacancies directly to students, most will display job vacancies on notice-boards or websites and students can apply to organisations direct. Some will offer additional services, such as short-listing, targeting students via email or text messages, hosting jobs fairs throughout the year, supplying temporary agency staff and providing rooms to interview in. In order to pay for their services some job shops will make minimal charges to cover costs.
Many employers are unclear as to the issues affecting the employment of European or international students, such as: "can they work without having a permanent National Insurance number?"; "Do international students require a permit to work"?; or "Do students have to register for work while studying in the UK?". Job shops are ideally placed to answer any enquiries relating to the employment of these student groups and will be able to provide up to date information and guidance on any issues affecting these areas of employment.
