What's National Student Employment Week all about?
NASES organises national activity during National Student Employment Week, usually the last week in February, and work at a local and regional level is co-ordinated by job shops. Job shops organise jobs fairs, employer sessions, sector specific information days, skills workshops, competitions and much more during the week to highlight and promote the importance of student working. In addition to this the NASES national office organises a Virtual Jobs Fair.
Don't worry, NASES survey members each year to determine the most popular week to run the event which was chosen this year to run alongside Student Volunteering Week, although a the bulk of activity is happening during this week, if you organise events throughout the month of February this is fine.
The Virtual Fair aims to help students of all NASES member universities and colleges explore job opportunities with employers and organisations during National Student Employment Week. Over the years the fair has been running we've worked employers including high profile employers such as Pizza Hut, Thorpe Park, Eversheds, RBS, Ernst and Young, Cummins, Centrica, British Heart Foundation, KFC, Cancer Research, and Intercontinental Hotels.
Virtual fairs take place entirely on the web and allow students to:
Simply link to the Virtual Fair site www.nases.org.uk/virtualFair. You can also encourage employers you work with to participate and register their organisations and job vacancies for free (except for direct sales and self-employed vacancies) with nases@liv.ac.uk
NSEW is a great opportunity for your job shop to really get students involved. You can host workshops, a local jobs fair, run competitions or even have a theme for each day. For more ideas download our 101 things to do during NASES events and see our Past events pages.
